If you live in Lake Elmo or any of the surrounding communities, chances are you have seen or heard about the local celebrity in our midst. Eva is the adorable chiweenie of Erin, a close friend of the owners here at Cedar Pet Clinic. This lovable pooch has thousands of photos, and we are pleased to now have her make an appearance on our website! Eva and Erin make quite the team when it comes to creating memorable photographs. They have even won some awards, including Reader’s Choice, Focus on Woodbury, and a Sidewalk Dog Cover Photo Content.
It’s Destiny: How Eva Came into Erin’s Life
Five years ago, Erin was on vacation in Daytona Beach, Florida over the Christmas holiday. In search of a new cell phone case, she decided to check out the Daytona Flea & Farmer’s Market. That’s where she first saw Eva. Erin had been thinking about getting a new dog and there she was. Since the date was December 23, Erin thought a name with a Christmas theme would be appropriate for her new puppy. After ruling out Joy, Noel, and Hope, she finally decided on Eva. This is the short version of her full name, Eva Channel Knievel.
Eva’s Career as a Dog Model
Erin knew that Eva would make the perfect subject for her photos as soon as they got home and settled into their new life together. She took to Erin’s lightbox right away and soon made the connection between the camera and getting dressed up for photos. Erin creates all of Eva’s costumes and background props herself from materials she finds at thrift and antique stores. In addition to her photography talent, Erin also loves theater and staging. Working with Eva in this capacity allows her to combine several of her interests into one.
Spreading Joy Wherever They Go
Erin has created hundreds of dog costumes and props over the years, but she doesn’t do photoshopping of any kind when processing her pictures. When you look at a picture of Eva, you’re seeing the same image that Erin shot originally. She does occasionally add text or a background to a shot. Amazingly, she takes most of these delightful shots at home in a walk-in closet she converted to Eva’s Studio.
When Erin first started snapping photos of Eva, she only shared them with family and friends. That soon grew to a Facebook fan page. People loved the photos so much that an Eva calendar and coffee table book are now in the works. We just hope Eva remembers her friends at Cedar Pet Clinic when she becomes a national celebrity.
