Dr. John Baillie, long-time medical director of Cedar Pet Clinic Lake Elmo, has been honored with the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine Outstanding Service Award. A graduate of that college, he received the award in the now-renovated campus building where he pitched hay as a work-study veterinary study in the 1970s.
Baillie has made service to the community and to his profession a lifelong priority. He has donated teaching time and mentorship to many veterinary students, provided free care for nursing home companion animals, and was the founding medical director of The Wildcat Sanctuary. He is active in foundation and fundraising work, and is the immediate past president of the Minnesota Veterinary Medical Association.
"Service is what we do for the things we cherish," Baillie says. "I am proud to be honored by the College."
