AND THE NEW NAME IS… “CEDAR”!
June 2, 2009
We had nearly ninety name nominations for this handsome bobcat, who was
rescued three weeks ago from deplorable conditions. Dr. Baillie has provided veterinary care for seven years for the Wildcat Sanctuary, and our staff spends hundreds of hours each year taking care of their rescued animals, everything from servals and lynxes to cougars, a pair of tigers and a pride of lions. This cat was rescued out of state from under a porch, in a small dirty pen stuffed with cat food cans and empty yogurt containers. Wildcat Sanctuary executive director Tammy Quist Thies offered us the naming rights on this cat, and we offered them to you. Our staff made the choice, and it wasn’t easy. Office coordinator Diane Pohl said, “ There were wonderful names suggested. Many were beautiful words from other languages. We voted several times, and there were four finalists…Miles, Perseus, Levi and, of course Cedar. The person who suggested Cedar wanted to be anonymous, and gave a simple reason. ‘Cedar Pet
Clinic helped him.’ We agreed, and we’re very proud that Cedar will live a long healthy life now.”
Clinic helped him.’ We agreed, and we’re very proud that Cedar will live a long healthy life now.” Dr. Baillie saw Cedar at the Sanctuary again last weekend and he is resting comfortably and recovering from his ordeal. Click here to see the television coverage of his rescue.
