FREE DENTAL CONSULTATIONS!

Smiling Dog

Teeth not really toothsome?   Dental hygiene applies to pets, too.  During January and February, bring your companion animal in for a fast and free consultation with our vets.  We'll take a look, teach you practical ways to maintain your pet's dental health at home, and make recommendations for any needed care.   It's been estimated that 80% of dogs have dental disease by three years of age, and it can happen to other pets as well.

This can lead to severe illness and reduced quality of life, as well as really bad breath.

Bring your dog or cat or ferret.  We'll have samples of, yes, poultry-flavored toothpaste.    Lip-smacking fun for all. Call the clinic at 651-770-3250 to make your free appointment, during regular weekday hours or on special Saturdays, January 14 and 21.

CEDAR PET CLINIC LAKE ELMO RECEIVES AAHA ACCREDITATION

Dr. BaillieCedar Pet Clinic Lake Elmo has again received accreditation following a comprehensive evaluation by the American Animal Hospital Association.  The evaluation includes a quality assessment review of the hospital's facility, medical equipment practice methods and pet health care management.

Only 15 percent of all small animal veterinary practices in the U.S. have achieved accreditation by the American Animal Hospital Association.  In order to maintain accredited status, Cedar Pet Clinic Lake Elmo must continue to be evaluated regularly by the association's consultants.

"Cedar Pet Clinic Lake Elmo belongs to a select group of practices that are committed to meeting the standard of veterinary excellence, "says Gregg Takashima, DVM, AAHA president.  "AAHA hospitals pass a stringent evaluation of over 900 standards covering patient care, client service and medical protocols.  By attaining accreditation, Cedar Pet Clinic Lake Elmo is demonstrating its dedication to offering the best care to its patients and clients."

Established in 1933, the American Animal Hospital Association is the only organization that accredits veterinary practices throughout the U.S. and Canada for dedication to high standards of veterinary care.  Approximately 3,200 AAHA-accredited practices pass regular reviews of stringent accreditation standards that cover patient care, client service and medical protocols.

Cedar Pet Clinic Lake Elmo, located on Highway 5 right across from the Elementary School, has been an accredited practice member of the association since its opening in Lake Elmo in 1998, and can be reached at www.cedarpetclinic.com.

Therapeutic Laser Now at CPC!

We are pleased to add therapeutic laser services for all our patients.  This deep-penetrating light, also used in human medicine, allows relief of pain, greatly stimulates healing, and works very quickly in most cases.  We’ve seen substantial improvement in ear infections, arthritic conditions, degenerative joint disease, lick granulomas, and dental diseases, even when conditions are chronic.  Laser therapy provides geriatric animals with relief of aches and pains and allows for more freedom of movement.  It also allows your pet to heal faster after surgery or any traumatic injury.  Ask, and we’ll be happy to explain about use of the therapeutic laser.

Just looking?  We know that medical care for your companion animals is important to you, and you want to be sure they are receiving top quality care.  That's why, during the fall and winter, we offer a free clinic visit for you and your pet, to meet us, to see the clinic, and ask any questions you wish about our work.(This does not include a free exam.)  Open to all, by appointment only, for anyone new, with any kind of pet. We especially recommend this for animals who have been afraid of visits to the vet, and for new puppies and kittens.  (Let us help you get them off to a good start!)  You are also welcome to come without your pet if you prefer.  These visits typically take about twenty minutes.  Come and meet us!  Call to inquire, 651-770-3250.

Almost Here!

Marley
Our annual Everybody Wins Children's Pet Show, part of the Lake Elmo Fall Festival, is coming up on Saturday, September 10. Children in grades K to 6 are welcome to enter, with their pets of any kind, on leashes, or in carriers. Our vets will award prizes like Curliest Tail, Brightest Eyes, and Sloppiest Kisses, to all comers, with a ribbon and a pet gift bag. Pre-registration is a must; call the clinic at 651 770-3250.

The Pet Show starts about 1:00 p.m., immediately after the Festival Parade. We invite children and families to march with us in the parade, as we do every year. See lakeelmo.org for more festival information. We're proud that we originated the Children's Pet Show, and have presented it to the community since 2008.

What's the count? More than 150 years of helping at Cedar Pet Clinic Lake Elmo!150 Years!

One of the things we are proudest of in our practice is the longevity and stability of our excellent staff.  We think it says volumes about dedication to the work, and even bigger volumes about our practice as a good place to work.   Counting up the years is a bit of a task, but here are some of the tallies in our practice. When you come in the door here, you are entering a clinic where the vets and staff are serious about their work, and serious about doing our collective best for your companion animal.   Dr. Baillie:  39 years in practice, and the founder of Cedar Pet Clinic.  Dr. Ulfeng:  17 years with us. Dr. Plantz: 7 years with us (started immediately after her graduation from vet school.)  Both Drs. Ulfeng and Plantz started their careers as animal care workers in our practice, decided to go to vet school, and came back.  Practice manager Mila:  more than thirty years with Dr. Baillie.  Vet tech Sue:  19 years with us.  Receptionist Sue:  20 years with us. Receptionist Diane:  11 years at our front desk.  Vet techs Sara, Kris, and Jayde: 13 years total.  And a relative newcomer...Michelle at 3 years.

We're also proud that two of our staff have left us now to start vet school;  Kirsten is finishing her first year, and Zoe starts this fall here at the University of Minnesota.
